Musik sebagai salah satu wahana pembentukan moral anak

The atmosphere of community life nowadays is felt by many as something lacking peace and harmony, with the frequent occurrence of extremely brutal behavior committed even by children to parents or vice versa. It is considered, however, that our younger generation is in possession of the greater quantity of such behavior. Now the problem that arises is how to bring forth a morally good younger generation to continue the life of the nation. There should be concrete efforts made to overcome the above-mentioned matter. One alternative is to introduce music to the young early in life. The results of many researches on the influences of sounds (musical ones, in this case) on the auditory system and the formation process of synapses in children's brains indicate that music can influence children's psyche. The ages when children are still at primary school (five to twelve years old) are considered the right period for them to be given musical experiences in all parts of their day-to-day life so that hopefully after being conditioned with a continual musical atmosphere, they will become persons filled with creative ability, spirit to learn, and ability to respect others.
