Daerah Rawan Pada Kawasan Kompetensi Pedagogik Guru Bahasa Inggris: Upaya Identifikasi dan Penanggulangannya
The students' quality of English language skills is partly determined by the English teacher's pedagogy quality. Therefore, the attempt to improve the students' English language skill can be improved by firstly identifying the possible area of teachers' pedagogic weakness. Empirical observations of a few teachers' teaching behaviors and theoretical analysis of them shows that (1) lesson planning, and (2) implementation of the plan are the most problem for most of English teachers. In the first area, formulating the basic competences and determining their accurate indicators are the most frequently made wrong, while in the latter aspect, misbehaviors for opening the lesson and conducting the main teaching are often found. Many of the teaching behaviors in the two stages fail to facilitate learning and to encourage the students to be independent learners. The most dominant determiner of this is the teachers' lack of linguistic knowledge, English language skills and knowledge of language teaching methods. Consequently the teachers fail to create a dynamically effective classroom. The solution proposed to overcome these problems is to improve the teachers' pedagogic and professionalism competence
